About Us

Luton Town Walking Football Club (LTWFC), was originall created by Luton Town FC in 2015. A social media request for over 50s males to represent the 'Hatters' at a regional Cup competition, was answered by a group of fans. Several months later, LTFC asked Arthur Mason, one of those fans, to continue running walking football sessions and, although there was no finaincial support from the club, Arthur was allowed to continue using the name Luton Town.

I (David Brown) was part of that originall 2015 group, but couldn't continue playing with Arthur due to my business commitments. However in 2019 there was change in my personal responsibilities and I sought out Arthur with a view to returning. One of the first things he said after welcoming me back was:

"Know any ladies Dave that fancy playing? We need to get a ladies team together."
I didn't, "Ok, well we'd have to sort something next year," Arthur replied.

Of course the next year 2020, was the year that the earth stood still and became just a little less enjoyable with Arthur's passing. Then in 2021, there followed the slow, tedious and at times mental-health testing, government sanctioned, crawl back to sports and physical activity. Over the months LTWFC spent time re-establishing their Wednesday eveninig playing sessions and returned to tournament football. Meanwhile, eager to follow up on Arthur's original 'ladies team' aspirations I tried, unsuccesfuly, to launch a female only walking football team - I won't go into details, but it was a doomed enterprise poorly thought out and badly executed!

2023 Luton Town WFC Ladies

So, rather than fail to plan, I set about planning not to fail and began a re-focus in March 2023. Facbook ads and web form enquiries led to a venue being booked for the 6th May 2023. Vivify, who managed the booking for the venue, then proceded to let us down. As the 6th was a Bank Holiday we checked to confirm that the school venue was indeed open, it was... only it wasn't! Just one of the many reasons we no longer use venues managed by them. So off we trotted to the nearest park, had an impromptu playing session and were up and 'walking,' ready to go!

A year later we tried our hand at a few competiive games with a fabulous group of ladies of varying playing ability and experience. In January 2025, LTWFC Ladies were granted FA Accreditation. England FA Accredited Clubs, are required to maintain the standards and requirements as set out by FA/England Football that include diversity, inclusion and playing opportunities for both experienced and non-experienced players... and thus our story continues.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE

Walking football provides a new and for some, unique opportunity to play the game with reduced injury risk but with the same 'kicking a ball' buzz!

TO COMPETE OR NOT COMPETE ..

That is the question! Not everyone wants to compete in tournaments and some may be better suited - but everyone gets to play at our regular training sessions

TO PLAY OR NOT TO PLAY

Who doesn't want to play? You could just come along and watch if you really wanted, but where's the fun in that - remember:
"there's no growth in comfort"
