Beginner Women's Walking Football
Thinking about trying women's walking football for the first time?
Luton Town WFC Ladies (LTWFC LADIES) provides beginner-friendly, welcoming, women's walking football sessions for ladies looking to stay active, meet new people and enjoy walking football in a relaxed environment.
New players, even if you've never played football before, are always welcome. You must be over 18 years to take part, although competitive tournaments are restricted to women aged 40 years and over.
No Experience Needed
One of the most common concerns for new players, especially those who have never played football before, is whether they need football experience. The answer is simple — absolutely NOT! The slower, non-contact nature of women's walking football allows players of limited experience and skill to still play and enjoy the game - many of our members joined having never played football before.
Our sessions are designed for:
- Complete beginners
- Women returning to sport
- Women recovering from illness or surgery
- Women looking to improve confidence and fitness
- Women looking to improve social connections
- Women looking to enhance their wellbeing and mental health
A Friendly and Supportive Environment
We understand that joining a new club can feel intimidating, sometimes it can help bringing a mate along - but we can assure you, that our women's walking football sessions are friendly and welcoming.
Our sessions focus on:
- Encouragement
- Inclusivity
- Enjoyment
- Building confidence
- Extending your comfort zone
So what should I bring to my first women's walking football session?
Our training venue (click here) is an outdoor, artificial turf facility, suitable for a couple of small sided games or something larger. The facility belongs to a school and is subject to school holiday closures so, during August, we then relocate for the month to a second outdoor venue.
What you need to know:
- Astro boots or short studded football boot only (no trainers)
- Suitable sports wear lightweight for summer months*
- Suitable sports wear for colder winter months*
- Water
- Any medication you need (e.g. asthma inhalers)
*Although artificial turf is generally softer than sun baked grass covered ground, it can cause friction burns if you fall over (it can happen), you may want to consider wearing tracksuit bottoms, or under armour, for additional protection.
So, why not give us a go and come and join our Beginner Womens Walking Football Community.
If you are looking for beginner women's walking football in Luton or Bedfordshire, we would love to welcome you.
